back from oblivion

from Without, 2001 (16"x16") my BFA thesis

Goodness, I’ve been gone from here a while. After my painting class ended I kind of had to surrender back into “reality.” But I’ve been thinking a lot about art and art-making. I’m lucky that in my “day job” I can consider myself creative professional so thinking about art is actually in my job description. However, it doesn’t always lead to making much art. I’ve been mourning my days/years of being an art student lately– making art was so much easier when it was the only thing I had to do! There are a million excuses for why I haven’t been able to make time for creativity in my life, but I’m finding new ways to mesh my life and my art together. And I’m realizing some of it takes actual planning, scheduling and prioritizing.
